Inspiring Science

In partnership with Edinburgh University Department of Chemistry,

the Society presents in this Science Outreach Programme at locations

around Scotland. It is centred in schools and features

science demonstrations and hands on activities to inspire learners

at all levels to consider STEM subjects in their academic careers and their lives.

The Programme also includes concurrent presentations

to the wider community including on street science demonstrations

and a programme for adults entitled Science Shots

held usually one evening at a local hotel.

Inspiring Science is lead by Dr Eleanor Campbell and a team of scientists

and advanced science graduate students from the university.

Held periodically throughout the year.

 Why We Do It

 Daily Mail

 May 18, 2011

" Young Give up on Life"

"One in five young Scots has given up on fulfilling their goals in life,

new research reveals.

Thousands of 16 to 24 year-olds have abandoned all hope for their future

- with many believing they will end up living on state benefits.

Others say they can only look forward to dead-end jobs, illustrating the rising despair

among jobless Scots amid soaring long-term youth unemployment".
